The “Train the Trainer” approach has been the industry standard approach. This approach to system implementation has been recommended by APICS for many years. In this scenario, Sutton Software trains lead managers so that they understand the details of all the system configuration options that are available to them, and these people are heavily involved in actually setting up the system. These company managers must take the time consuming approach of learning through experimentation. These people become in-house experts on specific modules of the system and they are actively involved in training the other people in the company.
